15 lead generation strategies

Not a list of tactics to try at random, but a sequence. Get the first few right and the rest compound.

Most lead generation problems aren't a lack of ideas; they're a lack of focus and follow-through. These 15 strategies are roughly in order, the early ones make the later ones work.

  1. Define the lead you actually want. Write down who qualifies and who doesn't. Everything else gets easier once “a lead” means one specific thing.
  2. Pick two channels, not eight. Concentration beats spread. Two channels done well will out-produce a thin presence everywhere.
  3. Match the offer to intent. A ready-to-buy searcher wants a quote; a researcher wants a guide. Don't show both the same thing.
  4. Give every campaign its own landing page. One page, one offer, one action, no site navigation. It's the single biggest conversion lever.
  5. Shorten the form. Ask only for what you need to make the next contact, usually name, email, website, company.
  6. Answer buying-intent questions with content. “Best…”, “cost of…”, “X vs Y”, “how to choose…”, these pages attract people close to a decision.
  7. Build for AI overviews. Clear headings, definitions and factual statements so AI answers cite you as the source.
  8. Get the Google Business Profile working. For local businesses this is often the highest-return channel, complete profile, steady recent reviews.
  9. Make reviews a habit. Ask every satisfied customer, every time. Rating drives both ranking and click-through.
  10. Follow up fast. Responding within minutes rather than hours dramatically increases the odds of connecting.
  11. Nurture the 97% who aren't ready. A simple email sequence keeps you in front of people until timing changes.
  12. Retarget your traffic. Bring back visitors who didn't convert, cheap reach to an audience that already knows you.
  13. Turn clients into referrers. Make referring easy and worthwhile; referred leads close faster and stay longer.
  14. Instrument everything. Track cost per lead and lead-to-customer rate by channel, or you're guessing.
  15. Review monthly, commit quarterly. Give a channel a quarter before you judge it; check the numbers every month.

Putting it together

Start at the top: define the lead, pick two channels, and give each campaign a real landing page. Add the content and reputation work next, then the follow-up and nurture systems. Keep a simple dashboard of cost per lead by channel so every decision after that is based on what's actually working.
